Chagri Monastery
Known as Chagri Dorjiden Monastery, 'Chagri' meaning an 'Iron Mountain' and 'Dorjiden' meaning 'Vajra of Happiness' the temple monastery is located 2850 meters above the sea level.

History
Pre Monastery Visit
Guru Padmasmbhava is said to have prophesied that a temple will be built in the site. Great Drukpa saint, Phajo Druggom Zhigpo is also said to have visited the site in teh 13th century making the site famous.
17th Century
Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel visited the site in 1620 and started construction of the temple, which took 3 years to complete.
Fire & Re-Construction
1951 & 1998 - Fire incidence occurred twice in the later half of 20th century. The fire of 1998 was severe and cause major damage to the monastery.
2000 - 2004 - Reconstruction under the guidance of 4th Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck took 4 years. The temple was officially reopened in 2005.
